12/11/2025 – Absa Sports Club – Nairobi

The first leg of the 2025/2026 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League came to a close at the Kasarani Indoor Arena between 6th and 9th November 2025, marking a weekend of mixed results, valuable lessons, and renewed momentum for Trailblazers Volleyball Club.

A Tough Start Against KPA

We opened our campaign against a formidable Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) side. However, a few unforeseen issues with player clearance meant one of our key athletes couldn’t start. The disruption proved costly, as we struggled to find its rhythm and eventually fell in straight sets.

Being in a rebuilding phase — with more than half of the squad from the previous three seasons out — was always going to present challenges. Still, the administrative issue was amicably resolved, ensuring all players were available for selection in the next match.

Grit and Growth Against Equity Bank

With a full squad available, we showed significant improvement in the second match against Equity Bank. Despite a 3–1 loss, the performance, especially in the final two sets, reflected the team’s growing cohesion and fighting spirit. It was the club’s first-ever defeat to Equity Bank, a result that stung, but the effort on the court was undeniable. Fans took to social media to voice their support and share opinions on the lineup ahead of the next high-profile match against GSU.

Blazing Past the Defending Champions

In the final match of the weekend, we faced off against record national title holders and defending champions, GSU. In a clash of two sides undergoing transition, it was the blazers who rose to the occasion, displaying renewed confidence, tactical discipline, and teamwork. We team stunned GSU with a straight-sets victory, earning their first points of the season and reminding everyone of our pedigree and potential.

The Road Ahead

After the first leg, we sit 9th out of 16 teams in the league standings. The position may not tell the full story — one of resilience, rebuilding, and rediscovery. With the first leg behind them, the team now returns to training with eyes firmly set on the second leg. The goal remains clear: keep improving, keep fighting, and keep blazing the trail.
