1st November 2024 – Nyeri

For the past two seasons, AP Kenya has been a formidable rival, clinching back-to-back 3-1 victories over us and establishing themselves as a thorn in our side. As the 2024/2025 season kicked off, we were determined to rewrite the script. Our first-leg clash with AP Kenya was a match steeped in history, with memories of past losses fueling both teams as they took to the court, each side eager to claim the win.

The Game Plan
Determined to seize control from the start, we devised a bold strategy: take an early lead and keep our momentum high, never giving AP Kenya a chance to settle. From the first whistle, we executed precisely, claiming the opening set with an assertive 25-19 finish. This early dominance set the tone, and without giving AP Kenya time to adjust, we followed up with another victory in the second set, 25-18. With a 2-0 lead, confidence surged through our team as we appeared to have the match in our hands.

AP Kenya’s Rally
But true to their resilient reputation, AP Kenya wasn’t ready to fold. They struck back hard in the third set, leveraging their signature power and teamwork to disrupt our flow and take the set 18-25. This shift sent our technical team into overdrive, strategizing how to prevent the match from extending into five sets, which would mean risking a hard-earned win.

Sealing the Victory
Refocused and reenergized, our team returned to the court with a game plan for precision and control. The fourth set saw our players execute with renewed intensity, overpowering AP Kenya’s defence and sealing the set 25-19. The final 3-1 scoreline of 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-19 marked not only a triumph but also a turning point in our rivalry with AP Kenya.

This win was about more than just three points—it was a breakthrough, a statement of growth, resilience, and tactical strength. With the season just beginning, we’re more motivated than ever to build on this victory and keep pushing forward.
