Trailblazers Volleyball Club has every reason to celebrate as two of their outstanding players, Eugene Okello and James Mutero, have earned a call-up to the National Men’s Volleyball Team, fondly known as “WAFALME.” The Kenya Volleyball Federation’s executive recently unveiled the 21-man provisional squad, a selection that received the approval of the technical bench, which includes Team Manager Alfred Chedotum, Gideon Tarus, David Lung’aho, Sammy Mulinge, and Elisha Aliwa.
Eugene, a first-year student at Zetech University pursuing Information Technology, has impressed both fans and coaches with his exceptional performance as a middle blocker in his maiden season in Kenya’s Top Tier league with Trailblazers Volleyball Club. His agility, powerful blocks, and ability to read the game have caught the attention of the national team’s coaches. Eugene’s inclusion in the 21-man provisional squad is a testament to his talent and potential to contribute significantly to the team’s success.
On the other hand, James Mutero, the dependable libero and captain of Trailblazers Volleyball Club, will make his second appearance in the national team after receiving his first call-up in 2019. Although he did not make the final team of 14 players during his first call-up, his experience and leadership qualities have made him an invaluable asset to both his club and the national team.
